Situated in Michigan, Detroit was the capital of Michigan from 1805 to 1847. Detroit is popular as the world’s traditional automotive center. Detroit is often referred to as the Motor City or Motown. The city’s name comes from the Detroit River. The city is a business, cultural, financial and transportation center in Metro Detroit area. Cadillac Place and the Fisher Building are among the city’s National Historic Landmarks.
