Lhokseumawe

The second largest city in the province of Aceh, Lhokseumawe if roughly translated means bay by the sea. Like the name implies, the small city is situated right by the sea. Like the rest of the Aceh province, strict Islamic restrictions are followed by the locals, but tourists need not fret as the people are friendly and welcoming, especially to foreign tourists.
